In response to feedback from the Mosman community, in March 2020 Woolworths Group revised its
plans from a full line supermarket to a small-format Metro store.

Woolworths is currently working through conditions of approval outlined in the Court’s decision and will continue to engage with the community to inform any changes to the plans.

Restoring heritage

The plans have been considered to preserve and restore the buildings’ heritage façade to ensure the
longevity of the original structure. Woolworths Group is working with an experienced consultant team,
including a heritage specialist, to ensure the shop fronts integrate with the existing look and feel of
Mosman Village. The heritage works proposed as part of the development have been further developed
over the past 12 months to ensure the significance of the existing buildings is retained and enhanced.

Local retail

The plans will complement the local Mosman retail environment.

New Metro stores in Sydney have proven to influence customer behaviour by increasing the amount of
time people spend in the surrounding area. This indicates more cross-shopping between the local stores.

A Woolworths Metro store

At other Metro stores on high streets in Sydney, there has been an increase in the
amount of time people spend in the area, and indications of higher levels of cross-shopping at local businesses.

Complementing the local area

The Metro store is designed to meet contemporary needs. People are preferring to do more frequent shopping, for fewer items which can be carried home, reducing the need to drive to the shops and to use trolleys in-store.

Each Metro store is tailored to the community it serves. The stores offer value and options — and are well-located to public transport. Mosman’s unique and loved village atmosphere has actively informed the plans and reflects feedback received directly from the community.
